Experience
Dr Nwagbogu qualified as a Doctor in 1995 and initially worked in physical health before specialising in psychiatry. He completed specialist training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Great Ormond Street Hospital and East London rotation, working alongside leaders in the field. He also trained at the Centre for Interventional Paediatric Psychopharmacology at South London and Maudsley NHS Trust.
As a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Dr Nwagbogu has over 15 years’ experience working with children and adolescents. His clinical work has spanned both generic and specialist teams in community CAMHS, inpatient units, paediatric liaison, and national specialist services.
In the private sector, Dr Nwagbogu has led large-scale NHS contracts, clearing waiting lists for neurodevelopmental and autism assessments for children, adolescents, and adults, as well as working privately in a busy London clinic for several years.
What to Expect
Dr Nwagbogu assesses and treats a wide range of difficulties for both young people and adults, from neurodevelopmental conditions to anxiety, depression and obsessive compulsive disorders. The first step is an in-depth assessment in the clinic, either a general psychiatric assessment or an assessment for a neurodevelopmental condition such as autism/ADHD.
Following the initial assessment in the clinic, Dr Nwagbogu works with the patient and their family to formulate and diagnose, as well as create treatment plans that may include medication and/or therapy, depending on the individual’s needs. Follow-up care is offered in the clinic on an ongoing basis.
In some cases, Dr Nwagbogu may consider taking on a patient with an existing diagnosis of a neurodevelopmental condition for ongoing management.
