Therapeutic Approach
Dr Kayleigh Darch is a highly experienced Clinical Psychologist who offers person-centred, inclusive and trauma-informed therapy to adults. She offers safe, compassionate, and confidential support using evidence-based psychological models.
She has completed additional specialist training in compassion-focused therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and acceptance and commitment therapy, and works integratively with these approaches alongside CBT and trauma-focused CBT. Her integrative therapeutic approach means that therapy is guided by what is most helpful to each client and adapted to the person.
Her therapy approach is also shaped by an understanding of our physical experiences. Having trained in trauma-informed bodywork approaches, she can offer somatic practices when helpful and relevant so that body-based experiences are deliberately brought into therapy, rather than it sitting beside it.
Specialisms
- Supporting adults across the lifespan in NHS & private sectors.
- Working with anxiety, mood problems & trauma.
- Using evidence-based therapy models to support self-understanding and helping clients make meaningful long-lasting changes.
- Working with self-criticism and shame.
- Facilitating trauma recovery and safe (re)connection with the body.
- Supporting clients with unshared experiences and psychosis.
Experience
Kayleigh is trained to doctoral level and has significant experiences working in NHS and private sectors since 2009. She has supported clients with a diverse range of needs and experience in services including community mental health, inpatient settings and specialist psychosis teams. She has experience of providing psychology services to people working in the fire service, trainee doctors, and clients referred by solicitors.
What to Expect
Therapy with Kayleigh begins with an assessment meeting to discuss the difficulties you’re facing and explore how therapy might support you. It’s the start of your therapy journey — an opportunity for both of us to understand whether this is the right fit.
In the early sessions we develop a shared understanding of your experiences, informed by psychological theory and evidence-based frameworks. From there, we agree on goals and the most appropriate therapeutic approach — one informed by what the evidence base suggests works best for what you bring.
Therapy is collaborative throughout. You set the direction; the methods are clinically led.
