After completing her degree in Psychology, Debbie underwent post graduate training in Oxford. She qualified as a Clinical Psychologist with a Diploma in Clinical Psychology awarded by the British Psychological Society, in 1993.

Since then she has held a number of roles in Community Mental Health Teams and Psychological Services in the NHS in Oxfordshire and in a Secure Forensic Hospital in Berkshire. Debbie returned to the West Country in 2004 and took up her part time NHS post in Somerset. She also worked until recently offering Clinical supervision to trainees on the Post graduate Certificate in Cognitive Therapy for the IAPT High Intensity course at Exeter University. She has a part time private practice in Taunton with Prometheus Psychological Therapy Centre.

Her work includes providing psychological therapies, assessments and interventions, as well as consultation to other practitioners. Her main influences reflect her professional training in Oxford where much of the development of cognitive therapy took place in the 1990s although she has also worked using psychodynamic, systemic and behavioural principles. Clinical Psychologists tend to work using a range of approaches, and Debbie has also achieved full accreditation in CBT with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP) in 2011 and undergone further training in Schema therapy and Compassion Focussed therapy. Debbie provides regular training to staff groups in core skills (Formulation, Understanding People, Behaviour Change, Listening Skills) in CBT, and in disorder specific work (eg social anxiety, depression) and coaching skills for managers.

Debbie is able to offer assessment, consultation and interventions for a range of presentations including anxiety, depression, trauma, eating difficulties, low self-esteem, work related problems, and her approaches are informed by CBT, Compassion Focussed therapy, Mindfulness and Schema Focussed Therapy. She can offer short term or longer episodes of therapy but works to shared goals and clear contracts. Debbie is a highly experienced clinical supervisor, and can also offer professional or life coaching.
